Abstract (from CDS):

S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the discovery by K. Itagaki (Teppo-cho, Yamagata, Japan) of an apparent supernova (mag 16.6) on numerous unfiltered CCD frames taken around July 25.54 UT with a 0.60-m f/5.7 reflector. W. Li, University of California, reports the following position end figures for 2006dy from a KAIT image taken on July 26.20: 11s.55, 13".8. Additional available magnitudes for 2006dy: 2002 Jan. 19, [19.0 (Itagaki); 2006 June 28, [19.5 (Itagaki); July 22.22, 18.5 (Li, via KAIT); 26.20, 16.5 (Li, via KAIT).
