Abstract (from CDS):

Using data from the COMPTEL telescope on board the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) we have discovered an unidentified source at l≃165deg and b≃57deg (error region of ∼1deg radius) in the energy range 0.75-3.00MeV. The source was found in data from Phase 1 and Phase 2 (June 28, 1991-July 27, 1993) of the observation program of CGRO. The overall detection significance is above 8σ for the combination of seven viewing periods. There is an indication of flux variability betweenJune 1991 and July 1993. As a counterpart a number of sources are considered, among them AGN, radio and X-ray sources, neutron stars and high-velocity clouds.
