Abstract (from CDS):

We report the 0.03-1.8MeV spectra of the nearby radio galaxy Centaurus A (NGC 5128) during 15 Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory viewing periods from 1991 May through 1992 June, using data from the Burst and Transient Source Experiment and the earth-occultation method. During these periods the average of the 45-140keV flux was ≃1.5x10–2γcm–2/s, with variability of a factor of two or less. The mean flux in the 0.5-1.0MeV range was about 1.5x10–3γcm–2/s, with evidence for variability. The spectra obtained during most single viewing periods are adequately represented by power-laws dN/dE=AE–α, with a mean photon index <α≥1.84±0.08, and RMS variability of at most 0.3.
