Multiperiodic variability in Magellanic cloud Be/X-ray binaries.

Abstract (from CDS):

The long-term photometric behavior of seven Be-neutron star binaries in the Magellanic Clouds has been examined using MACHO and OGLE-II data. All show small periodic outbursts, which we associate with the periastron passage of the neutron star and its interaction with the Be star's disk. Five of these systems are known X-ray pulsars. The orbital periods we find for these pulsars fall near the ``Corbet'' relation for orbital versus pulse periods for Be/X-ray binaries. In four systems we detect a previously unrecognized type of quasi-periodic variation that is present between the orbital outbursts. These variations may be related to the rotation of the disk.
