Abstract (from CDS):
Some applications of photometry to resolved stellar populations, with an emphasis on the Milky Way Galaxy are discussed. Our current understanding of the stellar components of the Milky Way is first reviewed, followed by a brief discussion of the possible future applications of photometry to address outstanding questions.
