Massive close binary evolution in the Galaxy and in the Magellanic Clouds.

DE LOORE C. and VANBEVEREN D.

Abstract (from CDS):

Evolutionary computations were performed for massive close binaries with mass ratio 0.6 and 0.9, primary masses between 9 M and 40 M, with chemical abundances holding for the Galaxy and the Magellanic Clouds. The computations were done with the new OPAL opacities. The evolution of the secondary after the mass transfer phase is continued till the end of its core hydrogen burning phase. Here we present major conclusions after critical comparison between the results of the Galaxy and the MC's.
