Possible wind blown bubbles associated with five Of stars.

BENAGLIA P. and CAPPA C.E.

Abstract (from CDS):

Four fields of ∼5°x4° have been surveyed using the HI-21cm line (hpbw=0.5deg) in searching for HI interstellar bubbles in the environs of several Of stars. The analysis of the data disclosed four bubble candidates, three with almost complete envelopes. Their dimensions are ∼40pc and their expansion velocities around 10km/s. For each structure swept-up masses (1000 to 8800 M), original ambient gas densities (≲0.6cm–3), dynamical ages (∼2Myr) and kinetic energies (≲2x1049erg) were derived. The origin of the HI shells is discussed, taking into account their kinematics, energy, age and the emission at other wavelengths. As in the case of several WR HI shells, the O strong stellar winds would be the main agents blowing the HI bubbles.
