SIMBAD references

Luminosity and mass functions for NGC3201 down to ∼0.3M_☉ are derived from BV color-magnitude diagrams in different fields containing about ∼13000 stars. We studied data for three independent fields observed with the NTT and 3.6m ESO telescopes and the derived mass functions are all in agreement with each other. Comparison with the data published in the literature have shown a fairly good agreement. This confirms that our results are quite reliable and that the completeness correction algorithm applied was substantially correct. From the observations taken at the Danish 1.5m ESO telescope we have determined a fiducial sequence from the giant and asymptotic branches down to the lower main-sequence (MS). This sequence is more extended than those previously reported. Reddening, metallicity, distance modulus and age have been obtained from composite c-m diagrams. A narrow sequence of blue straggler stars was also put into evidence.
