The distance of the isolated Magellanic-type galaxy NGC 1156.

KARACHENTSEV I., MUSELLA I. and GRIMALDI A.

Abstract (from CDS):

We use V,I CCD photometry to derive the C-M Diagram for the brightest stellar population of the dwarf irregular galaxy NGC 1156. Based on the mean apparent magnitudes: <V(3R)≥22.45 for the three brightest red stars, and <V(3B)≥21.24 for three the brightest blue ones, we obtain a distance modulus (m-M)0=29.46mag with a formal standard error of 0.15mag.
