Non-polytropic model with galactic winds for clusters of galaxies.

FUSCO-FEMIANO R.

Abstract (from CDS):

The intracluster gas of clusters of galaxies shows a metal enrichment with nearly solar abundances of metals. Two possible mechanisms are indicated for the injection of material by member galaxies: ram pressure stripping and protogalactic winds. In this article it is proposed a new static model that with respect to the non-polytropic model formulated by Cavaliere & Fusco-Femiano (1981), utilized to jointly fit all the available X-ray and optical imaging and spectroscopic data of the Coma cluster (Fusco-Femiano & Hughes 1993), includes also the contribution of supernovae-driven protogalactic winds to the heating and mass of the intracluster medium. The use of this model for the analysis of spatially resolved X-ray spectra should allow to discriminate between the wind and ram-pressure stripping scenario, regarding the injected energy and the metal enrichment of the intracluster gas.
